ABOUT US
"Highland Carbon is an Inspirational, innovative UK businesses achieving genuine green solutions,"
British Chambers of Commerce
At Highland Carbon we envision a future with a livable climate, spectacular natural areas full of biodiversity and sustainable communities for people to enjoy.
Highland Carbon is an award-winning and purpose-driven business founded by a Zoologist with experience working in international conservation. We use that expertise to shape and to vet climate forest and wetland projects undertaken in the UK. Highland Carbon is the pioneer in the supply of "Conservation Grade UK Carbon Units."
Since our inception, we have offered authentic, traceable UK carbon units with genuine nature and biodiversity impacts. From 2025, we are also offering Nature Credits created from exceptional rewilding initiatives. So doing ensures even greater landscape and conservation impacts for our company clients.
The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth. One in seven of our native species is under threat of extinction. We believe that both nature-based carbon offsetting projects and rewilding initiatives, when carefully sited and designed appropriately, present the best opportunity in history to rebalance nature.
We partner with twenty Scottish and English estates within the frameworks of the Woodland Carbon Code and Peatland Code. We also partner with a Welsh estate in the context of Sequoia Carbon.
Our Managing Director, Richard Clarke, has more than thirty years of experience recruiting and supporting Corporate Social Responsibility partners in both the United Kingdom and United States. He has worked with more than one hundred blue chip company clients, for example: Coca Cola, FedEx, IKEA, Sainsburys, M&S, HSBC, Dorothy Perkins, Disney, General Motors, Royal Caribbean, TK Maxx, Steelcase, Rolls Royce, CNN, Tokyo Electric Power Co. and Ford Motor Company.
Our nature restoration projects bring enormous community economic development benefits to the UK's remotest communities. Year-round employment opportunities are relatively few. We hire local people, whenever possible, to implement projects with regard to ecological assessment, ground preparation, road access, deer fence installation, tree planting and digger operation for hydrological engineering.
Our charismatic UK projects offer deeply engaging content for Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) reporting. We can also support communications with content available for public relations, investor relations, employee engagement, customer engagement and digital campaigns. In short, we bring significant added value to our carbon partnerships.
In addition to UK nature impacts, we curate offsetting from the international market, which enables us to offer stacked solutions and a range of certifications (such as ISO 14068-1) while enabling claims regarding Net Zero, Carbon Neutral, Nature Positive and Climate Positive. We can source authentic international credits via traceable commodity exchanges from North America, Central America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Subcontinent, the Far East, the Pacific Rim and Australia,
Our international offsetting opportunities feature the Gold Standard, Verified Carbon Standard, BioCarbon, Universal Carbon, United Nations (UNFCCC-CDM) and ACR quality marks. We can deliver a bespoke, blended solution that meets your price point and output requirements. For example, through a combination of nature-based solutions and renewable energy projects.
